Here’s the system that worked best for us.
We had a certified coder review every Medicare Advantage encounter.
They added the codes that passed muster to an excel spreadsheet.
They submitted that spreadsheet to our insurer every quarter—and they submitted it to CMS.
We never missed a code, we never had an unrecognized glitch that interrupted the flow of data.
It was simple, effective, and allowed us to focus on the relationships with our patients.
Because, in the end, it was the relationships that generated the value.
The risk-codes were just one way to get paid.
